Helping Hands

This shot in downtown Calgary focuses on a mural done for "Calgary Urban Project Soceity" or CUPS.
The industry of helping in Calgary is growing all the time. A very generous community. You can eat up to nine times a day for free at different locations, clothing, education, shelter and support services are provided for thousands everyday. Currently the province is focused on a ten year plan to end homelessness. Which provides housing and other supports for the "chronic" homeless. For me, I believe that the only way to deal with these issues is to build community support, not financial. Street people need family and friends more than they need a house. The community needs to realize the potential that a lot of street people have. That they can give back more than they receive. The one thing that always stood out from all the street people I've met is that there is always something one can do to have a positive influence on another. Nobody is a right off, nobody is useless.
